Happy New Year!!!
Yesterday, we had a time of declarations for TGP’s future in 2018. We are rounding into an exciting year as a church family. Next Sunday we will be talking about where we’ve been and what our ministries have been doing. I hope you’re ready for a year of advancing the work of the Lord. I know our TGP leaders are.
Here are a few teasers for what’s coming in 2018.
Vision Series
In January we will be launching our 2018 vision series to reframe where we as a church have come and where we hope to go. Our series will involve some of the narratives of the Old Testament including promises fulfilled to the Israelites, the battles they fought to get them, and the recognizable hand of the Lord working in tandem with Israel’s efforts to inherit their land. All this will be tied into our direction for 2018, sans physical combat.
Fasting
Half way through the first quarter of 2018 (Around February), we will be calling for a churchwide fast regarding TGP in 2018. This will be a time of reflection on what TGP has meant for each of us, how the Lord has used TGP in helping meet our needs, what we’ve done to advance TGP’s mission, and what our hopes are for TGP in the coming year. Listen for the announcements, prep your hearts, gird up your loins, and join us for fasting for God’s will for TGP.
Bible Classes
They’re coming back! After a hiatus, Pastor Todd will be re-launching Bible classes. Now that we have a place of our own, we won’t be as limited by time and space. These classes will be designed to give us a deeper understanding of the meaning of Scripture along with more detailed exposition of the passages. Each class will be approximately 2 hours long and will cover things not normally possible in the length of a normal sermon. Stay tuned for details!
Being Christian in a Secular Culture
On last teaser! In 2018, we will go through a series on being a Christian in a Secular Culture. We will look at what God instructed the Israelites when they were in the Babylonian Exile as a starting point for working out our faith in an American that is removing God from the cultural arena. It is easy to throw our hands up and say “all is lost” and hide away in our churches. However, God had a plan for Israel and Babylon; God has a plan for today’s Church and the USA. In this series, we will address the challenges we face living our faith in the modern world and capturing the heart of the Father in a lost and dying world.
So that’s it! If you’ve been wondering about what’s coming to TGP, this is your brief preview. Please be in prayer for our church as we venture into a new year with new possibilities and challenges. Also be in prayer for our leadership. We want to make sure our goals stay in line with God’s heart, not our own ambitions. Help us do that with your prayers and insights.
